Bloodshed in property rivalry

No Comments Sub Category:Kolkata Posted On: Mar 13, 2014

The murky world of real estate business has caused an increase in crimes in some parts of Kolkata. The cold hearted murder of Chandan Ghosh, two days ago was the third murder in last five months in the Entally-Tangra area. This is in addition to the death of Abhijit Patra in jail custody that triggered mob violence in Entally.

Like Chandan, Abhijit was a beginner in local business. The police source and local politicians point some unreal similarities between Chandan’s murder and that of Jeetu Hela, who was battered to death with a liquor bottle in the Entally-Beliaghata area on Navami last year. Jeetu was an associate of a “promoting syndicate”.

A source says that both Abhijit and Chandan were newly recruited by a local promoter for his third project in the area. During his earlier two projects, the promoter had assembled with Toton and his gang, the men alleged for Chandan’s murder.

Sources say that Chandan was murdered because of his friendship with an undertrial, who was the enemy of the lady, who is now running the show. That lady is said to be the last word in the syndicate business in Entally and Chandan has made a silly mistake of speaking against her.

Abhijit and Jeetu are little educated and had an affair with criminal activities before they joined the ‘syndicated’ business of supplying raw materials and human resources to the construction sites in Entally and Sealdah. All three are loyal to Trinamool Congress members and place themselves with syndicates. These same members had joined with the Left Front four years ago. The police source says that these victims are caught in various struggles between the two syndicates for control of construction projects in the Beliaghata Rail Bridge and Entally area.

With elections coming close, the ruling party is crying conspiracy. Trinamool Yuva block member says He also says that the men with criminal charges will not allowed to use banner of our party, it is because of the continuous protests our party is facing.

This tussle is not restricted to Entally, the two rival syndicates shot at each other in a residential area of Behala Senhati last year. Recently, a Trinamool leader in Rajarhat was killed after difference in opinion between his syndicate partners.
