West Bengal makes strong pitch for 10 ‘smart cities’
At the 51st Annual General Meeting of the Indian Paint Association – which is a CII affiliate – in Kolkata on Monday, West Bengal’s Minister for Municipal Affairs and Urban Development, Firad Hakim, said that the State has made a strong pitch for 10 ‘smart cities.’
With regard to West Bengal’s proposal for 10 ‘smart cities’ in the State, Hakim said that the move underscores the potential for five million new homes in the State over the next few years.
According to Hakim, the 10 ‘smart cities’ proposal by the West Bengal government will unfold a “huge opportunity” for the Paints industry “to set up shops in the State.”
Hakim further added that the sale of the Paints industry will witness a significant surge because of the ‘smart cities’ proposal because the consumption of paints will rise, due to the increased requirement for coating new buildings and beautification of infrastructure.
Drawing attention to the fact that West Bengal was the first Indian State to set up a painting unit, Hakim told the attendees of the Indian Paint Association’s Annual General Meeting: “That is an extra reason why you should think of West Bengal when you think of setting up a unit.”
Hakim also added: “The state government will do everything to make sure your experience is pleasant.”
