A new committee for the welfare of senior citizens will be formed. The Federation of Senior Citizens Organisations, Maharashtra (FESCOM) has presented a proposal for the formulation of new policies aimed at making the city senior citizen-friendly.

Civic Chief, Sitaram Kunte, said that the issue of care for senior citizens will be taken very seriously and budget will be allocated to accommodate their needs and these policies will be implemented from October 1.

Fescom demands include policies such as setting up of recreational and daycare centers, allocation of BMC school classrooms for offices of senior citizens and creation of organisations and special geriatric sections in BMC hospitals for senior citizens.
