BMC ruled out the possibility for an out-court settlement
BMC has completely ruled out the possibility of an out of court settlement with residents in Campa. They further stated, that the present rules and regulations do not allow regularizing the illegal flats constructed in Worli society.
The BMC has although provided the residents in the 96 illegal flats a little bit of relief as they have confirmed, that they will not take any order for 15 days until the next hearing. The next hearing is going to be held on July 21st. Mohan Adtani, the municipal commissioner stated that they have told the Supreme Court that any kind of out of the court settlement is not possible. The BMC officials also made clear that they shall wait until matters get clear. The law department of BMC stated that they are not quite sure as how the Supreme Court wants them to act and that they would hence prefer to wait.
The officials at BMC stated that the Supreme Court had advised them to take action as the flats were illegal but also said that they cannot evict the residents. The officials are waiting for the next hearing date so that they get clear information about what the SC wants.
