BMC takes serious action against tax defaulters
Bhopal – With the instructions given by Mayor and Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner, officials have pulled up their socks to collect taxes from defaulters in various zones of the city.
They have also taken up serious action in many wards of the city. They have seized two properties in Bhopal and 59 tap connections were disconnected.
According to the instructions of Mayor and BMC commissioner, all ward offices of corporation will remain open on Sundays and public holidays too. This move will ensure collection of taxes without any delay or difficulty. Moreover, corporation has also organised special campaigns in various colonies to collect tax payment.
Two days back, a team of officials has collected an amount of Rs 51,50,723 through the ongoing drive of collecting the taxes. The team of officials collected Rs 2,28,t 83 from zone 01, Rs3, 86,404 from zone 02 and Rs1,83,150 from zone 03. The team also collected tax from zone 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14.
The two properties in Bhopal were seized in the wards 22 and 23. Among 59 tap severed, four taps were served at ward 04, 13 at ward 09, four at ward 17, two at ward 22, three at ward 23 and other taps were severed at ward 33, 40, 41, 43, 38, 44, 49, 50, 51, 52 and 53.
On one hand the taxes are being collected and on the other hand, a team of BMC officials has removed illegal hoardings from certain areas of the city. They are also removing encroachments from public places like main roads, footpaths etc. The officials have requested the public to stop such encroachments hereafter.
