BMC to spend Rs 980 crore to improve roads
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to spend Rs 980 crore on concretization and upgrading of asphalt roads. The civic body will float the tenders soon and the work will most likely begin in October.
Seeking to redress the pitiful condition of roads in the city, BMC plans to introduce measures to ensure quality work and to use the best technology so that sustainability of roads can be maintained.
To guard against complaints those contractors have not been following the standing technical advisory committee’s recommendations, the BMC has decided to use ground penetrating radar (GPR) machine to ensure quality of the work.
