BWSSB disconnects more illegal connections
In Bangalore, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) successfully disconnected 120 sanitary connections and illegal water connections and recovered Rs 7.35 lakh.
On the first day of the special drive, the board visited the areas of the city which are most congested. The special team in each zone visited Vasanthnagar, Kumara Park, KG Towers, BEML 6th stage,Kaggadasapura, Yelahanka New Town, Mathru Layout, Kotthanuru Dinne, Puttenahalli, Nagarbhavi and Shivajinagar.
Areas like Puttenahalli, Nagarbhavi and kotthanuru Dinne, which falls in the south – west division, the team has disconnected 35 illegal water and sanitary connections in Nagarbhavi area alone.
The drive will continue until the board is assured of sealing all illegal connections and also to arrest water leakage through sanitary and illegal water connections. BWSSB will have to recover pro-rata charges from those who have been issued notice earlier to have taken connections by applying through Sajala scheme.
