Campa Cola compound residents to vacate as instructed by the BMC
Earlier the Supreme Court had given 6 months of time to the residents of the Campa Cola compound located in the South of Mumbai. All of them were unauthorized flats. But recently, a notice was sent by the BMC asking all of them to vacate and leave the area by the 1st of June, 2014!
The BMC officer went ahead and asked all those who have given up their flats to return back their keys according to the November 2012 order of the Supreme Court. This was displayed in a letter sent to the chairman of “Orchid” which happened to be one of the buildings located at the Campa Cola Compound.
In the year 2013, during the month of November, the Supreme Court had ordered the BMC to delay the procedure of demolition until next year in the month of May on the 31st. Over the last two and a half decades, about 100 families have resided in this compound.
Not just that, the letter also said that arrangements are being made so that the keys are handed over with the 29th of May till the 2nd of June. Once the keys have been handed over, the staff will show you the directions and take you to the said premises on the same day so that possession can be taken over. If failure is noticed in the matter of handing over the keys, legal action will be taken against. The flats were called illegal because they were constructed without the permission of the BMC.
