Campa Residents are given hope by Prithviraj Chavan
The residents of Campa Cola have been provided with some hope and peace by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Prithviraj Chavan. This happened as the people living in this compound took the matter up to the Supreme Court and made a new plea so that protection can be given to almost 100 flats which were up for demolition from last Tuesday.
During a cabinet meeting on Monday, Prithviraj Chavan ordered his chief secretary and law secretary to see if the state could interject into the matter. The minorities minister Naseem Khan and housing and slum development Sachin Ahir quickly took up the states intervention. In fact the two of them stated that the Supreme Court had told both the BMC as well as the state to come up with solutions to this major problem. The state should definitely don’t quit or give up on this vital chance.
The people living in Campa Cola spent their entire Monday on paper work and conducting important meetings with their lawyer Himanshu Shekhar. Their desire was to buy some time till the regular bench of the SC can hear out their pleas again without the facts being presented in courts so far. 31st May was the deadline given by the Supreme Court for the residents to leave the place.
