CBI arrests Eldeco boss in graft case
The chairman and managing director of realty firm Eldeco, SK Garg, has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday in connection with a graft case in which some senior income tax officials were nabbed by the agency.
The CBI had arrested four senior income tax department officials, who were reportedly involved in alleged bribery in a tax evasion case. Officials said that Garg had also been named in the FIR along with those four senior officials.
Sources said the investigation wing of the Income Tax department at Kanpur conducted a survey in connection with complaints of alleged tax evasion by Eldeco.
CBI revealed that the senior level officials of the private company (Eldeco) along with a chartered accountant (Jaiswal) based in Kanpur contacted several officials of Income Tax department and settled the I-T evasion matter by bribing them.
