The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a charge sheet against 13 accused people in the Adarsh Housing Society scam, including the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, Ashok Chavan, the former MLC, Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, senior retired Army officials and bureaucrats and a former employee of the Defence Ministry.
Charge sheet has also been filed against senior bureaucrats Jairaj Phatak and Pradeep Vyas, but the CBI is awaiting the Central and State governments’ approval for their prosecution, as they are serving IAS officers who have been put under suspension.
The sources said that, the charge sheet includes statements given by 150 witnesses among which important ten were recorded.
The sources added that this charge sheet does not include investigation of benami property, and the CBI is expected to file another charge sheet by the second week of December, giving details of such transactions.
