CBI seems to give up its probe in CWG scam
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to close its investigation in two cases related to large scale alleged corruption during the Commonwealth Games, of which, one being the Barapullah flyover case and the other is bailout package given to Emaar MGF for construction of 1,168 flats in the Commonwealth Games Village.
Sources from CBI said that the agency had registered an enquiry in connection with the Rs 766 crore bailout package given to Emaar MGF by the Delhi Development Authority.
They have decided to give up since accusations could not be proved during the enquiry.
The agency has also decided to close the FIR it registered last year against the Public Works Department (PWD) officials and a few firms in connection with alleged irregularities in the project for construction of the Rs 620 crore Barapullah Nullah flyover for the Commonwealth Games.
The investigating agency had supposed that the contractor and PWD officials had bloated the cost of the project.
