Cement companies to cut prices soon
The cement prices as of now are higher compared to previous year. However, it is likely to come down as per prediction. Slow arrival of monsoon along with supply-side constraint in Chhattisgarh due to plants of UltraTech, Ambuja Cements and Lafarge India – being shut down by the Chhattisgarh environment conservation board (CECB) as the companies were not complying with the pollution norms, have had a large part to play in prices remaining same.
A 50kg bag of cement, costs around Rs 270-350 depending on the brand. However, the cement companies seem to be contemplating a cut in prices by around Rs 5-10 per 50kg bag by end of this month as demand starts slowing with the onset of monsoon.
The revelation comes from Cement Manufacturers Association and it indicates further impact on real estate sector as well.
