Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor expected to boost industrial activity between two southern metros
By mid-next year a final blueprint on the mega southern infrastructure project for the ambitious Chennai-Bangalore-Chitradugra Industrial Corridor (CBCIC) is expected to be ready.
V P Baligar, CMD, Karnataka State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd mentioned that the consultants Nippon Koei and Price Water Coopers (PWC) have been appointed to prepare a comprehensive integrated master plan for this project.
The good news is that this project runs through nine industrial hubs that include Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Banaglore, Kolar, Tumkur, and Chitradurga. Hence not only the country’s top two southern metros Chennai and Bangalore will be benefitted, other cities in the area too will get an economic boost which in turn will increase employment opportunities and provide an overall growth to the area.
Baligar, who was making a presentation of CBCIC to the members of the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce, mentioned that this project will act as a magnet for investments into the region.
As part of the project, the northern part of the Bangalore city will get a peripheral ring road (PRR) measuring about 65.54 kilometres. Further, satellite towns such as Ramanagara, Kanakapura, Anekal, Hoskote, Devanahalli, Doddaballapura, Nelamangala and Magadi will be connected by a satellite town ring road measuring 204 kilometres.
