parkingThe Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has planned to construct a two storied parking facility at Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus as the present basement parking lot is choked in the wake of increased demand for parking of two wheelers.

The proposed parking facility will be an extension of the existing parking facility that comprises two basement floors.

The proposed parking lot would provide space for 5,500 vehicles, mainly two wheelers, and will have a separate lot for just cars, something the present facility doesn’t have.

The need for an extension of parking space has risen due to the growing population of Chennai. With the growing commercial and residential properties in Chennai, more number of people started to live in the city. Hence the demand for parking space has increased.

Apart from that the passenger movement to Sriperumbudur, Oragadam and Kanchipuram has been increasing due to industrialization and hence demand for parking has increased considerably.
