CIDCO indicates that Phase-1 of Navi Mumbai airport will be ready by December 2018

In an apparent indication that the first phase of the Navi Mumbai international airport will likely be ready be December 2018, the City and Industrial development Corporation (CIDCO) of Maharashtra has set out on a Rs 20,000-crore infrastructure development for the nodes it is managing in Navi Mumbai.

In a recent a communiqué to various stakeholders in the Navi Mumbai airport, CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia has listed out the different initiatives undertaken on the infrastructure front, including the settlement with nearly all the villages to ensure that land acquisition for the airport can be carried out smoothly.

In the communiqué, Bhatia indicated that the projected timeline for the completion of Phase-1 of the Rs 14,500-crore Navi Mumbai airport is December 2018, when the airport will become operational enough to allow flights to take off and land.

Meanwhile, with regard to the infrastructure development planned by CIDCO in the Navi Mumbai, several real estate players have expressed the developers’ commitment to make the requisite contributions for shaping up Mumbai as a “truly world class city.”

Stressing the importance of infrastructure development for any urban expansion, Prajapati Developers’ Managing Director Rajesh Prajapati said: “I am sure the various projects initiated by CIDCO will go a long way in Navi Mumbai’s rapid progress;” and added: “The real estate developer community will be happy to play its role in the process.”
