Civic officials will be punished for any Illegal construction
The state government of Maharashtra has amended the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations (BPMC), Act, 1949.
The amendment will now not only ensure action against relevant builders but also hold civic officers responsible if they fail in their duty in restricting the construction of illegal structure.
According to the Act the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will punish the civic officials allowing unauthorized constructions with a fine of Rs 25,000 or imprisonment for a month. This rule will improve the real estate projects in Pune.
Different activists against illegal constructions appreciated the decision as the law will keep a tab on erring officials who delay action and play the blame game instead.
