CMDA Seals Illegal Building on Anna Salai
A building on Anna Salai, Chennai has violated development regulations like setback area, floor space index and parking allotment. The owner of the building obtained permission from Chennai Corporation in 1987 for construction of ground plus one floor for a furniture showroom. But, the owner deviated from the original plan and constructed ground plus three floors to convert the building into a lodging house.
Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) officials locked and sealed three floors of the building on Anna Salai on Wednesday.
On April 26 , the CMDA issued a notice to the owner of the building seeking plan approval. As the owner failed to produce the documents, ongoing construction was deemed unauthorised.
