Coimbatore master plan delayed by 2 months

1 Comment Sub Category:Coimbatore,Infrastructure Posted On: Feb 20, 2014

Coimbatore Master Plan is expected to be delayed by another two months. Geographical Information System (GIS) is not expected to be completed by the February 28 deadline. GIS helps to determine the existing land use patterns.

The existing land use patterns in the district are being mapped by an eighteen member team of volunteers from Centre for Geographical Information Technologies (CGIT), Bharathidasan University in Trichy. The team expects to submit the draft land use pattern by end of March.

Land use patterns have been categorized into 108 sections by the Directorate of Town and Country Planning. Grid maps which have the scale 1:2000 have been handed over to the teams. The maps cover 1.5 km area on the east and west directions and one km in north and south directions. As part of the internal monitoring exercise, the vehicle used by the team will be directly monitored on real time basis from the CGIT centre.

The latitudinal and longitudinal position is being tracked in the mapping exercise and the existing land use patterns are being determined to see how the plots are being used at the moment, LPA sources informed.

Coimbatore has been divided into 1100 rural and 1800 urban grids. The process is expected to be completed by March 31, informed S Vasudevan, coordinator, Centre for Geographical Information Systems.

Coimbatore residents have submitted more than 3000 suggestions and modifications related to the land use pattern in the district.

I’ve been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I
never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me.
Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.
