No Comments Sub Category:Cities,Other cities,Realty News Posted On: May 21, 2012

Shortage of sand is a major crisis which is affecting the building construction in Mangalore. The government wants that the builders should start using the silt accumulated in the Lakhya dam.

According to the government, if the developers start using the silt as an alternate material for Sand, it will help the dam to increase the water storage capacity.

In the Mangalore Realty and Buildcon Expo, the Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly has said that the government is working on the delay approval process, as the delay in sanctioning projects is leading to cost escalation of various projects in Mangalore and other areas of the state. It is estimated that this delay has increased the cost of projects by around 45 percent.

The Deputy speaker has also said that the government should set up a regulatory authority to control the prices of steel and cement which is increasing day by day. According to the Deputy speaker, the construction industry should find solutions for their problems through alternative sources and hence build affordable houses.
