Constructions in Kansa, stopped by Punjab Government
The Punjab Department of Local Government has ordered to stop all construction activity in village Kansal. The order came after the order given by the Punjab and Haryana High Court banning fresh construction in the Sukhna catchment area.
As Kansal village falls within the Sukhna catchment area and the Nayagaon Notified Area Committee (NAC) is asked to stop all construction activity there, the government has stopped all construction work.
The move is going to affect the controversial Tata Camelot project coming up in Kansal. The other under construction multi-storey projects have also been put on stay.
Almost the entire 488 acres of Kansal village fall within the Sukhna catchment area. but 60% of the area is already constructed and most of the construction took place before year 2006.
Hence the government is aiming to restrict any construction in the remaining 40 percent area of the village.
The department claims that the NAC was asked to stop approving building plans in March 2011 after the orders from High Court and no plans have been approved after that time.
