Contractors not complying with BMC orders
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s ambitious plans to monitor road contractors’ work quality may not take off soon.
The BMC had invited tenders worth Rs 120 crore to repair potholes and asked contractors to install sensors and GPS devices on their machinery to enable the civic body to monitor quality. BMC made it compulsory for contractors to install systems like heat sensors, density sensors and GPS devices on their batch-mixing machines and road rollers.
However, the contractors have been hesitant to comply with the BMC orders and to install the sensors.
