Corporators demand penalty cut in Pimpri-Chinchwad
The corporators in Pimpri-Chinchwad have demanded that the penalty being charged by the property tax department from citizens for unauthorised constructions after January 2008 be reduced.
The PCMC property tax department has started sending notices to the owners of the unauthorised constructions directing them to pay a penalty equivalent to the property tax of the structure, if it is an unauthorised construction registered or detected after January 2008. The citizens have expressed resentment against the decision and termed it as exorbitant.
Now that the citizens have to pay double tax for the unauthorised constructions corporators have backed the citizens. The civic general body had rejected the proposal for charging penalty from citizens, however, the civic administration went ahead with the move.
