A consumer forum in New Delhi has compelled the Durga Builder Pvt. Ltd, a real estate firm, to pay compensation money of 4 Lakh to agitated customer for having unfair business means.

Durga Builder, a Delhi based real estate firm is asked to pay 4 Lakh to a woman who resorted to consumer forum after being by unfair trade means. The real estate firm has clearly denied the plot she has once booked.

C.K Chaturvedi, the president of New Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has asked the real estate builder, Durga Builders Pvt. Ltd. to pay the compensation amount of 4 Lakh to Miss Kusum Gupta. He declared that it was a complete case of business fraud including violation of contract. The firm was strictly directed to pay a sum of Rs 4 lakh to Kusum Gupta while considering this practice to be unfair business means.

The forum was informed by Gupta that she had booked her plot under the firm’s project in the year 1992 at Badarpur. But once the booking was done, the firm wanted Gupta to settle for some other plot instead of the actual plot that she has paid for.

She was further notified by the firm that as a result of some technical issues as well as financial debacle, they would not be able to hand her the desired plot. Hence she had to settle for some other plot. The firm was too arrogant when Gupta demanded the allotment papers. The firm had blatantly denied giving her the allotment letter, thus compelling her to seek justice from consumer forum.

Thus Gupta didn’t hesitate in feeling the consumer form, demanding compensation of 4 Lakh from the guilty firm. Therefore, next time you make a land investment, do read the terms and conditions thoroughly. At the same time, one must learn to identify and avoid corrupt organizations practicing ill business means.
