Creation of Land banks in Bihar and encouraging inter caste marriages- Prime agenda for the Modi Government
NaMo’s election manifesto was ‘’Home for all’’ by 2020. In line with the same dream, the state cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal of the Bihar State Housing Board to create land banks in the different districts for its housing projects. The board wants to safeguard the interests of the farmers and hence has decided to purchase, not acquire, land at market rate from the farmers.
To government has resolved to bring about some social reforms too along with the infrastructure, industry and real estate development. The cabinet sanctioned Rs 1 crore to encourage inter-caste marriages. The government wants to empower women which was clearly visible in the number of women ministers being sworn in on May 26 in the grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The cabinet sanctioned Rs 50,000 to every woman who opts for an inter-caste marriage. Remarriage after divorce or intra-caste marriages like a Kanyakubj, Sakaldipi, Maithili or Bhumihar marrying among themselves or Rajputs, Kayastha, Kurmi sub-caste marriages would not be treated as inter-caste marriages. It is mandatory for either the bride or the groom to be from Bihar.
A tribal marrying a non-tribal will be treated as an inter-caste marriage. Among the tribals, an Oraon marrying a Munda, Santhal, Khadia or a Munda marrying a Paharia shall be treated as an inter-caste marriage.
