CREDAI, APPCB turn a blind eye to pollution by construction

Do you know that rising construction activity and commercial establishments contribute in high pollution levels?

No proper check has been done on pollution levels in Hyderabad city by the concerned authorities. Thousands of buildings are under construction spreading intolerable noise. Careless handling of building materials and lack of safety measures has been very annoying to people but the GHMC gives no attention to it.

Even the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI), Hyderabad, turned a blind eye saying it is the responsibility of Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board to check the pollution levels and take necessary action.

Usually construction works result in high levels of dust and noise. Also work is often carried on till late night disturbing the residents of the localities despite the law prohibits it.

Medical experts say that air pollution can result in serious health problems like loss of appetite, lungs and heart ailments and sleeping disorders.

When enquired about this, the APPCB officials told that they do not have a separate check for pollution at a construction site.
