DC rules changed for Dharavi redevelopment
Maharashtra government has announced changes in the Development Control Rules (DCR) for the Dharavi slum redevelopment ahead of Mumbai civic polls.
The redevelopment plan of Dharavi was approved in 2004 with an aim to develop roads, toilets, gardens and basic amenities in the area.
After the redevelopment, standard of living can be improved and around 60000 families will be benefited from it.
Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority ( MHADA) will act as the nodal agency for this project.
Under the new DC rules, slums and chawls will be redeveloped and there will be a bidding for re-development on government land. There are also plans of providing 4 FSI for the redevelopment.
