DDA decides to launch protest
The Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) engineers will launch a protest against the decision to close 18 of its construction divisions. The move to shut divisions is in line with DDA’s restructure plan. More than about 250 engineers would be either shifted or asked to take voluntary retirement.
The decision was taken after comparing workloads of the divisions. Those with lesser work are being closed down as said by a DDA official. The All DDA Engineer’s Association has written to union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu and L-G Najeeb Jung, protesting the move.
If the DDA’s divisions are closed like this, there wouldn’t be enough manpower to construct affordable housing for Delhiites and benefit private developers said an association member. The details have not been provided how much will be the duration of the protest and other details but probably sometime will be required to figure out the agenda.
Officials from several levels in DDA have decided to take part and rally the protest. However it is not clear how many days or how the protest will be lead by the officials.
