Over 16000 DDA Flats Allotted in 3 hrs
Around 16,118 flats were allotted on Monday after a DDA draw of lots. The list of the successful applicants was uploaded on the DDA website by evening. The process of taking over possession of these flats will, however, happen only towards the end of this year. The draw of lots was conducted in Noida this time. It was held in the morning in the Noida Sector-62 office of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), and the entire process of conducting the computerized draw took two hours and 45 minutes.
Hundreds of hopefuls who gathered in front of the C-DAC office were disappointed as they were not allowed to watch the process. The big screens put up inside the office were also inaccessible to them. Many applicants trying to access the DDA website to view the list of successful applicants in the evening said it either took them a long time to access the list or they were not able to access it at all. A large number of police and PAC personnel were deployed outside the C-DAC office, and traffic on the road was diverted. Fire engines were also parked outside to handle any eventuality.
The DDA carried out the biggest draw of lots to allot over 16,100 flats under its housing scheme 2010. A total of 7.5 lakh people had applied for DDA flats. This housing scheme was launched on November 25, 2010. For the first time husband and wife were allowed to apply with the condition that only one flat will be allotted in case both of them are selected in the draw.
“Successful applicants will be given 180 days’ time for submitting the requisite documents and make payment. Interest will be charged if the allottees make payments after 90 days. After an allottee submits the documents and makes the payment, the process of possession of flats will begin and it will take about 60 days’ time. If an allottee wants to cancel or surrender his flat, he can do so within one month by paying a nominal fee. Refund cheques to unsuccessful allottees will be issued by April-end,” added an official.
Explaining the process of draw of lots, DDA spokesperson Neemo Dhar said: “The four judges randomly selected a token — carrying numbers from 0 to 9 — from a jar. This in a sequence formed the random number which was fed into the system. The random number in the first case was 130978. This number was randomly matched to application form number 46357 and a random flat number 01648 was allotted to the lucky applicant. This was a flat in Dwarka that was listed as first priority by the applicant. There is no chance of tampering with the system as the random numbers and the matching application numbers are also printed.” The system took over thereafter carrying out the process of allotment on a random basis.
