In sync with BJP’s election manifesto of ‘’housing for all by 2022’’, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will roll out the largest-ever housing scheme by July end. The top official talking in details about the project mentioned that “green technology” will be used in the 2600 flats across various categories.

24,000 one-room apartments and another 2,000-2,500 flats will be built as per the DDA 2014 housing scheme. Rohini, Narela and Dwarka and some other areas of west Delhi are chosen for these low budget housing schemes. The prices will start from Rs 14-15 lakhs and may go up to Rs 1 Crore.

DDA vice-chairman Balvinder Kumar mentioned that 24,000 flats will be low-cost, the remaining 2000- 2,500 flats will be available across LIG, MIG and HIG categories. DDA is yet to decide whether the one-room flats would be made available to all or only to the economically weaker sections.

The much-awaited scheme comes four years after the DDA offered over 16,000 flats in its 2010 scheme. Kumar also mentioned that most of the houses are pre-fabricated and have green features, used for the first time in DDA houses. They are being built according to the Master Plan of Delhi till 2021.

By July 2014 about 15,000 flats should be ready. Another major chunk will be ready by December end of 2014. The last leg of the project will have about 1,000 flats which will be completed by March 2015.
