DDA Will Take Over The Entire CWG Village
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will take over the entire Games Village Complex. The flats will be ultimately put up for sale some time early next year. According to DDA officials, the process of taking over will involve a complete inspection of every flat in the Village after the organizing committee (OC) has removed the furnishing it bought in.
Once the handover takes place, the security cover by Delhi Police is expected to be withdrawn. The OC will also be taking away the electronic equipment in the flats, like television sets, washing machines, refrigerators, kettles and a host of other paraphernalia. The DDA will also be taking over the sports complex, situated next to the residential compound, which was used as a training venue by athletes during the Games.
DDA has not revealed how it proposes to dispose of the flats. However, in August, officials in the DDA had said the authority will sell its share of the flats at market rates. Sources in the DDA said it is likely that a certain number of houses will be sold to government bodies and PSUs, while the rest will be sold to the general public. Officially DDA says that the mode of sale is still being worked out.
