DDA’s 2014 Housing Scheme approved with minor changes
During the course of a meeting held in New Delhi last Thursday, the ‘2014 Housing Scheme’ of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) was approved with some minor changes. The meeting at which the scheme was approved was chaired by Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung.
Under the 2014 Housing Scheme, DDA will offer more than 25,000 flats, including a huge number of one-bedroom units. The areas in which the flats comprising the housing scheme will be offered include Rohini, Dwarka and Narela. The cost of the flats will range between Rs 14-15 lakh and Rs 1 crore.
With the 2014 Housing Scheme having been duly approved, the sale of brochures will likely commence by the end of August. The draw for the allotment of the flats will be held after a month or more.
As per a new condition introduced for the first time, the registration of the flats offered under DDA’s 2014 Housing Scheme will take place after five years. Though DDA had also proposed the reservation of 80 percent of the flats for Delhi residents, the proposal has been turned down.
With regard to the rejection of DDA’s flat-reservation proposal, an official said that that there is no way in which to authenticate whether a particular individual “qualifies as a resident of Delhi.”
Meanwhile, an unidentified source has revealed that “the scheme will also include 850 vacant flats, part of earlier schemes but lying unoccupied.”
