DDA’s housing scheme to organise one big lottery for a housing scheme
The Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) housing scheme is going to held one of the biggest lotteries in the Capital, with one out of more than about 46 applicants having a chance of getting a flat. This time, however, the odds are even more heavily stacked against applicants.
For its 2010 housing scheme, DDA had allowed applicants five options to mark flats of their choice in the application form as per their preference. For its 2014 scheme, the DDA reduced the number of options to only three. This means if an applicant’s name comes up in the draw and none of the three options marked in the form are available, the applicant gets out of the race.
Earlier, with five preferences opted for in the form, an applicant stood a better chance of getting a flat even if it was his or her fourth or fifth choice in the order of preference. Each category of the flats is assigned a unique two-digit code. While filling the form, applicants have to mention these codes in the three option boxes provided.
