Deccan Chronicle covers commonfloor.com
Deccan Chronicle has covered and hailed commonfloor.com and the efforts put by the three visionaries – Sumit Jain, Lalit Mangal and Vikas Malpani, to make it happen.
Commonfloor.com, a platform for apartment owners which brings together residents of apartments to discuss issues and sort out problems, was launched in December, 2007. It has become one of the largest apartment directories in India.
Currently, there are 41,000 apartment complexes which uses commonfloor.com across the country. In Bangalore, out of 8,000 apartments 7,000 apartments are using it as a common platform.
The web portal features ‘Vendor Connect‘, which includes service providers like security guard services, home loan providers, etc for apartments. Various Interest Groups can be created in the portal such as badminton groups, yoga clubs, laughter clubs, etc.
While residents use the portal to communicate with each other, association members use the portal to communicate about issues through sms and emails for accounting expenses and income.
The portal puts up articles related to various relevant topics like water problems, property tax, lift maintenance, home decor, etc. The portal has been able to connect to and convert users who used to use portals like Yahoo Groups to communicate with each other.
