Decongesting New Delhi

new delhiOn November 25th Tuesday, the Union Minister of Transport, Highways and shipping Mr. Nitin Gadkari revealed his concern over New Delhi’s traffic issues. The minister expressed his deep concern on the increasing pollution along with the traffic stagnation across the capital. The government expressed its concern for building new roads and other infrastructures to ease out the traffic which has become more than a public nuisance.

Works on the ring road

The union minister further announced the allotment of Rs. 4,750 crore for the development in the ring road. He also confirmed that the money would be put into use to fund a fund a number of projects started in the ring road and most probably the work is hoped to resume in a month’s time. He announced this relief news to the people during the launch of a straight bus from India to Nepal.

Mr. Nitin Gadkari further stated that steps are taken to ensure that the work on these projects on the ring road is expedited efficiently. The first session of road works will resume from the outer ring road which connects Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. He also stated that he had carried out meetings with the chief minister of Haryana and even added that the center would take over the projects which have been put on hold.

Concern about Air Pollution

He also expressed his concern over the pollution which is plaguing New Delhi, he seeks over umpteen A number of changes in the motor vehicle act (MV). The union minister of transport, highways and shipping also said that new and improved means of transportation should be developed to ease out the congestion. The public buses which are in bad conditions are to be replaced with eco-friendly new buses. The metro and electric trains should be remodeled and he also suggested converting normal buses into electric buses to minimize the effect of pollution.

The Express Target!

The government has set a target of three years to complete the 135 km long two expressways, the eastern, western peripheral expressways which might decrease the congestion in Delhi. The peripheral expressway connects Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Greater Noida, and Palwal to Kundli.
