Delhi: HC bench reserves order on maintainability of PIL against Vadra firms
On Wednesday, a bench of the Delhi High Court reserved its order on maintainability of a PIL against Vadra firms. The PIL chiefly seeks a court-monitored investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the land deals allegedly signed by Robert Vadra firms in Gurgaon.
With no notice having been issued by the High Court on the PIL thus far, a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw reserved its order after hearing advocate M.L. Sharma’s brief arguments on Wednesday.
The plea – filed by Sharma in his personal capacity – had also sought an investigation into grant of licenses to Vadra firms, for changing land use of agricultural plots which the firms bought in Gurgaon.
Reserving its order on the maintainability of the PIL, the High Court bench asked Sharma to first to give a satisfactory elucidation with regard to the issue involving the jurisdiction of the court.
Sharma asserted that the cause of action partly taken place in Delhi because of location of different offices and constitutional bodies – including the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Ministry of Urban development, and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) – in the city.
Sharma said that he has “already given a representation to the CBI;” and added alongside: “But it neither registered an FIR nor lodged even a preliminary inquiry in the case which relates to huge loss caused to the exchequer during 2005 to 2012.”
