Delhi-Jaipur Highway toll collection to continue as per the directive passed by the previous government

The Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Krishan Pal Gujjar mentioned that if the toll collection as per the concessionary agreement already entered for Delhi-Jaipur Highway is annulled then it can lead to litigation and other complications.

Gujjar mentioned in a gathering in Kot Putli in Rajastan on Saturday evening that it does not matter if the Government has changed. The new government has to honour the directives passed by the previous government as it involves the interest of the parties concerned. He was visiting a spot on a flyover on the Highway at Kot Putli, where there had been some damage leading to traffic jams and diversions.

The Centre for Road Research Institute has been asked to conduct the enquiry and submit a report by the July 10, 2014 regarding the damages on the flyover. It will be fixed soon shortly after the assessment of the situation and after we identify if the builder was at a fault or not. The onus will lie with the builder if he is found guilty, to fix the flyover quickly. Else the government will take over the work.

Gujjar assured people that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) would complete all the works within a year even if the contractor fails to do so. The Minister also assured local people that repairs to service lanes would be done in the next two days to ease the traffic and also ordered all the flyovers should be opened within the next three or four days.
