Delhi-Ludhiana Expressway gets go ahead
Government has announced the construction of a six lane expressway from Delhi to Ludhiana with an estimated budget of Rs 20,000 crore.
The three states – Delhi, Punjab and Haryana approved the construction of 357 km road structure for the expressway. The route map will be finalised by the next month as claimed by the Road Transport and Highways Minister CP Joshi.
This expressway is designed exclusively for the high-speed traffic. The cost of the expressway per km is around Rs 40 crore and Rs 5,000 crore will be incurred on land acquisition. The government is also planning to develop township alongside of the expressway.
Minister said that the cabinet had already approved constructing the expressway from Delhi to Chandigarh, but as the state demanded, it is going to re-align the project from Delhi to Ludhiana with a link to Chandigarh.
The stretch of the expressway is about 266 km while there will be a 91 km spur connecting Chandigarh. This expressway will be the second one after the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.
