Delhi Metro Rail Corporation commences work to lay the Faridabad Metro track
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has commenced work on the laying of the Faridabad Metro track, which will facilitate connectivity between Faridabad city and Delhi.
With the work on laying of tracks for the Faridabad Metro having been started by the DMRC, it is expected that the 13.87-km stretch connecting Badarpur station with YMCA Chowk will probably become operational by March 2015.
The DMRC has reportedly asked Contractors working on the Rs 2,500-crore project to accelerate the track-laying work, so as to ensure that it can be completed before the scheduled date. The track-laying work, as per reports, has been undertaken by IRCON, which is using the latest techniques for the task. Previously, the DMRC had used precast garders for laying the stone of the track.
According to the details shared by a spokesperson of DMRC, Faridabad, the civil work on the Metro project has been completed; and the DMRC has now started laying the track. The spokesperson also revealed that, in the next few months, the laying of the track as well as the electrification work will likely be completed.
With the Badarpur-YMCA Chowk stretch largely marking an over the ground track which chiefly runs on the eastern side of the Mathura road, the spokesperson said: “The line is expected to be ready for trials by early next year.”
