Delhi Metro rush to finish Phase III
The deadline for Delhi metro Phase III is March 2016. According to Delhi Metro, around 25% of the work is complete, including two new corridors and extensions to some existing ones, crucial land acquisition, clearances and setting up of work infrastructure.
Mukundpur to Shiv Vihar and Janakpuri (West) to Botanical Garden will connect west with east and north with the extreme south. Najafgarh-Dwarka, Faridabad extension and the extension of the Central Secretariat line till Kashmere Gate are the other lines. The work is underway at Azadpur, Netaji Subhash Place, INA, Nizamuddin, IIT, Vasant Vihar, Kalkaji, ITO, Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid, Janakpuri west, Munirka, IGI Airport station, South Extension and Sarojini Nagar.
On the Yamuna Bridge-where the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar line crosses over from Nizamuddin to Mayur Vihar Extension, all the civil work is complete. The bridge will be one of the longest in the Delhi Metro network. It will measure around 602 m.
In nut shell, the work is going on at a great speed and in some cases like extension of Central Secretariat line, the work is expected to be completed before deadline.
Metro officials point out that underground work take up a lot of their time.
