Delhi & NCR: Multi-level parking at Botanical Garden Metro station finally off the ground
The 23-storey multi-level parking facility project at the Botanical Garden Metro station has been hit by a number of delays, but work on the project has finally started now. With the project off the ground at last, it will take three years – after the commencement of construction – for the multi-level parking facility to become functional.
Going by the details shared by the officials, the construction of the multi-level parking facility – which will be able to accommodate 8,000 cars – is likely to kick off in July; with financial bids for the project to be finalized on June 15.
Spread out in an area of 19,500 sq metres, the new multi-level parking lot at the Botanical Garden Metro station will be housed in a 700-metre high building; with 13 floors dedicated for commercial use, and the remaining floors to be used for parking of vehicles.
Revealing that work on the semi-automatic multi-level parking facility – with two basements – will be underway soon, project engineer SC Mishra said that the facility has received due clearances from IIT-Delhi.
The need for the new multi-level parking lot at the Botanical Garden Metro station is imminent, given the fact that the station will be upgraded to a junction after the completion of the proposed Metro extension — Kalindi Kunj to Botanical Garden. With the existing parking at the station capable of accommodating only 500 vehicles, additional parking space will be required once the station is upgraded to a junction.
