Delhi/NCR: Fresh lottery to be conducted for EWS, LIG flats in Ghaziabad
With controversy surrounding the allotment of flats in economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income group (LIG) categories by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), the officials of the authority have revealed that a fresh lottery will be conducted to allot the flats.
The move implies that the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) does not plan to carry out any special investigation into the alleged irregularities in allotting the flats in the EWS and LIG categories.
An inquiry into the matter was being sought by BJP councillors who recently accused the GDA of allotting the EWS and LIG housing units to ineligible candidates who had apparently produced fake certificates.
Asserting that a fresh lottery for allotment of the EWS and LIG housing units will be carried out by the GDA, though there will be no special inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the earlier allotment, GDA Secretary Ravindra Godbole said: “The onus to prove the authenticity of documents supporting claims of caste, tribe or income lies solely on the applicants.”
With regard to fresh allotment lottery for the flats, Godbole said that the selection of the candidates to whom the flats were previously allotted is liable to be cancelled if they cannot furnish correct documents.
