Delhi/NCR: MCG clears infra projects worth Rs 24 crore
In Gurgaon, infrastructure projects worth Rs 24 crore were cleared by the MCG’s Finance Committee – headed by Mayor Vimal Yadav – on Monday.
In addition to giving clearance to infrastructure projects, the committee also gave the green signal to the process of inviting tenders for the projects costing Rs 5 crore. The committee also revealed that, in the next ten days, it will invite tenders for the remaining work worth Rs 19 crore.
With regard to the several projects cleared by the committee, the Mayor said that the majority of the development work which has been given clearance includes basic infrastructure jobs such as laying water supply pipelines, and construction of roads as well as community centres across the area which comes under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation.
In reference to the clearance given to development work estimates worth Rs 24 crore, the Mayor said that the committee wants that the actual construction should start before the model code of conduct comes into effect.
Noting that the MCG is trying its best to “award the project before the model code of conduct comes into force as we are aware that once it does, no new projects can be announced or awarded,” the Mayor said that he plans to hold a meeting with all executive and assistant engineers in a few days, so that clearance can be given to other infrastructure projects worth Rs 50 crore.
