Delhi/NCR: NDMC planning facelift of Connaught Place’s Super Bazar area

No Comments Sub Category:Delhi-NCR,Realty News Posted On: Jul 29, 2014

The NDMC has plans underway to give a facelift to the Super Bazar area in Connaught Place. The Super Bazaar building has been non-operational since 2002, when the bazaar was shut down because of monetary issues.

The plans which the NDMC is working on, to give the Super Bazar area a facelift, include the construction of an automated multi-level parking at the area, so that the burden of the parking lots in Connaught Place can be reduced.

Moreover, with the Super Bazar building lying unused for nearly 12 years, the NDMC is also apparently considering options to redevelop the building, which comprises a 19,000 sq ft basement, and a ground floor plus five floors measuring 20,200 sq ft.

While the NDMC had previously proposed to demolish the building, it has now talked to the operators about the possibility of either running it or adding commercial value to the property by any other means.

Pointing out that that the Super Bazar building is in a “dilapidated condition” and is “dangerous” for the life and property of people living around it, an NDMC officials said: “If no active measures are taken by the company responsible for it to revive the building then we intend to demolish it. Our aim is to revive the whole place into a state-of-the-art structure. Lying abandoned, it is only eating up space and marring the beauty of the CP circle.”
