In what marks the latest development in the multi-crore land scam in Greater Noida, seven more officials were suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday.

The suspension of seven officials is linked to the Rs 350-crore scam in which land records were distorted in villages in the Yamuna Expressway vicinity, in an alleged attempt to claim extra compensation from the government.

According to the latest suspension-related details shared by unidentified government officials, the seven officials who have been suspended include two district land consolidation officers, two settlement officers, one additional land consolidation officer, a land consolidation accountant and a registrar.

The suspension of the seven officials is the second suspension order issued by the State government in one week, in connection with the Greater Noida land scam. In an earlier move on Friday, charge-sheets were issued against almost 20 PCS officials, including 12 gazetted officers.

About the suspension, Ranvijay Singh – settlement officer, land consolidation, Gautam Budh Nagar – said that the officials who have been suspended are posted in Bulandsahar, Bijnore, Amroha and Meerut.

Revealing that the suspension orders have come after seeking inputs from the respective district magistrates with regard to the role of the officials in the Greater Noida land scam, Singh said: “A complaint will be filed against the seven suspended officials at Dankaur police station on Tuesday.”
