Demand for better policy measures for the Cement Industry
The cement industry wants the Government to help boost demand through policy measures. They have always been looking for cost benefits in the Budget, however this time they feel that the Government can consider giving some incentives or laying emphasis on cemented roads for all the highway projects.
Since the lifespan of cemented roads are at least 50 per cent longer than that of tarred roads and the maintenance hassles and costs are less, the cement industry feels that this proposal is beneficial for the nation as a whole.
The previous Government had plans give green signal for the cemented roads, however finally it wasn’t implemented. This time the industry feels that the government should set its vision right and ensure adequate investment flows into the sector to implement this plan.
The cement industry feels that the demand will rise post budget and they are waiting for the government to pronounce its policy statement. The industry is looking at better investments and the investors are looking at better return on their investments.
The positive sentiment in the capital market is expected to attract investment in various sectors. The cement industry was neglected for quite some time and the industry experts feel that this industry is capable of meeting any demand. More inflow of cash in the infrastructure sector will blow a new lease of life to the industry.
