Developers rob owners’ access to common facility
As real estate in Bangalore soaring to new heights, developers are being accused of unfair practices by flat owners’ associations in various situations.
Complaints range from corpus fund being siphoned off to being denied free access to common facilities like swimming pool or gym as have been promised to the buyers prior to completion.
Many Apartment Owners’ Association (AOA) representatives have brought out complaints against the developers. A certain flat owner in Bangalore revealed that the developer of their society brought the common facilities under the clause of limited common area and facilities at the time of registration without informing them.
He pointed out that it is difficult to establish that the developer had unilaterally changed the agreement. Experts are of the opinion that incidents like these stress the need for a stringent law to control the real estate business.
