Development of houses for the poor
The Delhi Government had finished the construction of about 14,000 houses about like 6 years ago. These houses were built in order to provide the economic weaker sections of the society with some security. However, it has been found out recently that these flats are empty and are showing signs of wearing. There aren’t enough supplies for water here.
The Rajiv Ratan Awas Yojana scheme which had planned to come up with low cost homes to all the applicants who are eligible is showing the same scenario. The government has shown signs of failure to allot the house despite getting thousands of applicants every year. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation has also ordered the government of Delhi to curtail all housing projects for lack of proper sanctioning under the regime of the UPA regime if they are unfinished within the given period of time.
The Delhi Government under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission has come up with a plan to finish off a total of 16 housing projects by next year in the month of July. Up till now, only 6 of them have been completed.
