Digitisation and real time mapping used by the Delhi Development Authority

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 19, 2014

DDA or the Delhi Development Authority which happens to be one of the top most agencies all over the city has begun working towards keeping together all records of the land. This will be done with the help of digitisation as well as real time mapping. Satellite imagery shall be used as a powerful tool here. By the end of 2014, the digitisation of record should definitely be finished.

What encouraged the Delhi Development Authority to take up this matter was the poor condition of land records and the incessant encroachment of land. The moment the entire process has come to an end, it will cause a change in the function and character of the patwaris. In fact, they were very much the ones who would preserve these records. Since all the data which contains all information concerning land is found on the internet, a couple of changes need to be made for the patwaris and tehsildars.

There are about 79,000 acres of land which fall under the jurisdiction of the Delhi Development Authority. Out of all of them, there are about 1,500 acres where encroachment has occurred. According to Kumar, land can now be protected with the help of this fresh technology. Since there aren’t enough of records in paper, there have been a number of disputes and court cases have been extended for quite a number of years. This is because of the lack of efficient division of the khasras.
