DIPP will work towards the simplification of the LAA (Land Acquisition Act)
The Department of Industrial Policy Promotion has recently come to a conclusion that it will work towards the simplification of the Land Acquisition Act. This will be done for the purpose of facilitating some investment and developing of the economy. Tiresome and difficult rules will be done away with in order to carry out the process of simplification.
Nirmala Sitharam, who happens to be the commerce and industry minister, will possibly take up the matter with Gopinath Munde, her rural development counterpart. The DIPP will also try and remove the social impact assessment procedure in the Act. This happens to be an essential requirement for the private entities and public private partnership in order to acquire land.
The Act will work towards the developing a state social impact assessment unit, rehabilitation and resettlement, office of a commissioner and a state level monitoring committee. This Act has stopped the process of land acquiring nearly and has impacted all the big projects which are hitting growth of manufacture. For any amendment, the Act has to be passed by the Parliament at first. It has become mandatory to convince and get the approval of at least 70% of the people affected for the acquiring of land for the PPP projects and 80% for the private companies.
